Low porosity hair tips

We talk about low porosity when cuticles are compact and prevent hair hydration. You should provide your hair light vegetable oils that easily penetrate tight cuticles such as argan oil, avocado oil, wheat germ oil, jojoba oil, kukui oil, apricot oil, grape seed oil, shea olein, olive oil or baobab oil. Heavy oils will not help hydration, as they are unable to penetrate low porosity hair. Worse, those oils will create an extra barrier that would prevent moisture from penetrating the hair. Avoid products with acid pH that tighten cuticles even more and favor instead products with alkaline pH values that help scales to loosen up. Favor humectants that set hydration on your hair. Additional heat when using treatment in necessary to help scales loosen up. Steam is also an ally. We recommend that you use a hair steamer, a heating cap, a plastic film or the baggy method.
